Many people use Facebook to count on it practically their entire life: photos, videos, tastes, purchases ... But the information that is in the Zuckerberg social network is not always safe and beyond the continuous leaks and security problems that it has starred, you should know what to do if your Facebook account is stolen or hacked. How you should act to solve it.
If you start to notice suspicious activity on Facebook, it may be because your account has been stolen or hacked. For example, if your name has changed and you have not, if there are written messages that you have not written on Facebook Messenger or if you find publications that you do not remember having posted. Of course, if you have not written it and no one has had access to your mobile phone or your computer, it will be because your Facebook account has been stolen or has been hacked.
There are several options and methods you can follow or review to log out of Facebook on another computer or find the location from which it was opened.
The first thing you will have to do is enter your Facebook account and change its password once you are inside it. As long as your account has been stolen but you still keep the same email or phone number associated with it.

There are several options and methods you can follow or review to log out of Facebook on another computer or find the location from which it was opened.
Change password
The first thing you will have to do is enter your Facebook account and change its password once you are inside it. As long as your account has been stolen but you still keep the same email or phone number associated with it.
From the computer
The theft or change of password is the most common cause for which we are prevented from accessing our Facebook account. However, if you still have the same email, it is possible to access your personal profile.
Not only has your password been lost or stolen. Neither can you access your email or it does not have it operational for some reason. Well, rest assured, it is also possible to recover your Facebook account without having to access your email. The process is very similar to what we have described above. In this case, what you will need is to link a mobile phone number and have access to it.
Again, when you have been able to access your account, it is advisable to change the password to a new one and avoid future problems.
If the email or telephone number has also changed during the hack, you can contact Facebook and they will try to solve the problem or you can use the trusted contacts as we explain in the following paragraphs.
From mobile phone
We can also change the password from our mobile phone instead of from the browser if we do not have a computer at hand:
- Go to Facebook
- Click in the upper right corner
- Go to Settings
- Click Security & Login
- Click Edit next to Change password
- Enter current password
- Choose a new, secure and reliable password
- Click on "Save changes"
Once inside, log out of all devices where the account is open. In the event that we cannot enter Facebook, in the previous link we can see all the recommendations to solve the problem. If you don't have access because the password has been changed, you can try resetting it as long as you still have access to the email associated with the session or the original phone number. See "I forgot my password" and follow the steps to modify the security from your mobile or email.

- We will be presented with the same pop-up window as in the previous case when we had to enter our email address.
- In this case, within the bar, you must enter all the digits of a mobile phone. It would be very strange if you did not have access to it. If, for example, you link the account with another phone because you don't have it on you, you should be aware of the risks for future occasions.
- Once this is done, click the Search button.
- Now you will have to select the option Send code by SMS and click on Continue.

If I believe that someone has hacked my Facebook account and is using it without my permission, something that we can easily detect if they have changed our email address or password, name or date of birth, sent friend requests to people we do not know, we publish messages that we have not written, etc., then the best thing is that we communicate it to Facebook.
To do this, we must follow the following link. If we are unable to enter the account, we will receive a message to report a compromised account. Next, it will ask us to enter our mobile phone number or email address associated with our profile to search for the account. Depending on the result, Facebook will ask us for other information to verify that we are the owners of the account and that it has really been stolen or hacked from us. Therefore, all we have to do is follow the steps you request.
If, on the contrary, we have managed to enter our account but we still want to inform those of Mark Zuckerberg that someone has been able to steal or hack our profile on the social network, by following the link above a page will appear from which we can provide more information about what is happening to us. At first, we can indicate if we have found a publication, messages or event that we have not created, that someone has entered our account without our permission, we have found an account in which they use our name and photos or people can see content that we thought was private. If we have detected anything else, then we will mark the option I cannot find the correct option in the list. Either way, click on Continue to continue with the process.
From there, an assistant will guide us to follow all the steps that allow us to protect our account from any intruder so that it does not happen again.
- Open Facebook
- Go to "Security and Login"
- Choose the "Where have you logged in" section
- Click on "See more"
- Find the session you want to close
- Click on the three vertical dots
- Click on "Exit"
- You will be logged out of Facebook immediately
- Repeat the process with all the devices or locations you want
Remove suspicious apps
If you have access to your account and you have doubts if there is an application that may be the culprit, keep control of which apps access your session and delete the ones that are not known to you.
- Go to Facebook
- Access the Settings
- Choose Applications
- Go to Applications Settings
- Check which apps have access
- Click on the "x" next to the app to delete it
Trusted Contacts
If you cannot access your account because someone has changed the password or the user, then use the trusted contacts option to ask for help. Of course, it will be essential that you have your close friends assigned to do it. First of all, choose your trusted contacts on Facebook so that this option is valid when you need to recover your account from theft or hack:
This measure is very useful and practical and no one can use it to steal your account if you have chosen your trusted contacts well. Look for trustworthy people, who you know in real life or who are from your family, for example. Another tip when choosing trusted contacts is to use contacts from different backgrounds such as co-workers, family, or friends. And, above all, we reiterate the importance of them being people you know in real life, who are reliable, close, and who are able to recognize your voice on the phone if you talk to them. This will prevent someone from impersonating you.
Specifically, we can propose between three and five of our friends on the network so that they can help us if you need to recover your account on the social network. What we have to do is call our trusted friends to provide them with that URL and open the link to provide you with the security code, which will be the one that will help you recover your Facebook account.
